PRODUCT DESCRIPTION 
Designed for users of advanced Nikon SLRs and Nikon digital SLRs, it inherits all of the functions of the SB-28/28DX and adds some exciting innovations. The Nikon SB-80DX is a significant addition to the Nikon Speedlight lineup, offering photographers enhanced flash shooting flexibility for a wide range of applications.
 
The SB-80DX provides compatibility with D-TTL and 3D Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-Flash control, and offers features such as a tilt-rotate flash head, a built-in wide flash adapter for 14mm wideangle lens coverage, GN 38/125 (ISO 100, m/ft. at 35mm), flash coverage up to 105mm in 5mm zoom steps and an AF-Assist Illuminator. In addition, the SB-80DX enables modeling flash and wireless slave flash, and a new dedicated soft dome has been provided to create soft lighting.
 
It was Nikon's top flash when introduced in 2002, however it doesn't have the latest i-TTL system needed for optimum, or in some cases, any, operation with the D70, F6, D2H and D2x. On the other hand, it is perfect for any other film camera or older digital cameras like the D1X and D100. 
 
To use the SB-80DX on the D70 simply select the non-TTL "A" mode. It replaced the similar SB-28 and SB-28DX. The SB-80DX adds a built-in slave as compared to the SB-28 series. It's within 3% of the size, weight and power of the SB-28 series. It works in TTL mode on the digital SLR cameras like the D100 and D1H.
