With only 1/6th the angle of view of a 50mm normal lense at around 8°. It takes 1/36th of the area covered by a 50mm to fill the 35mm picture frame. Taking a tiny 4 x 6mm section of a 35mm negative made with a 50mm lense while enlarging it to full frame equals the coverage of the 300mm. At one time it was automatically accepted by designers that there had to be 300 millimeters between the lense and the focal plane in a 300mm lense design. The lense mount also accounts for part of the overall size. However, Olympus has designed this 6X lense to be smaller (telephoto ratio 0.75) and lighter than other 300mm lenses, incorporation of a specially developed optical glass provides higher resolving power and a minimum of chromatic aberration.
The compact styling and superior performance makes this ZUlKO 300mm an ideal tele-lense for sports, wild life, and mountain photography even when it is handheld. Features a built-in retractable lens hood, a tripod collar allows free rotation in any desired position (horizontal. vertical, etc.) with the use of the clamping knob to lock desirable shooting format. The lense has a larger filter attachment size which accepts any 72mm threaded filter and usable with Tele-converter1.4X-A which can transform the lense into a 420mm f/6.3 super-telephoto lense !
